2018 Community Development Block Grant – Allocation Program

Holmes County will be applying to the State of Ohio Development Services Agency for funding under the 2018 Community Development Block Grant Program. Funding shall be requested as an allocation grant. On February 24, 2018, the County conducted the first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG grant, how it may be used, what activities are eligible, and a community Development Implementation Strategy (CDIS), other program requirements.
Based on both citizen input, including the local officials’ assessment of the County’s needs, the County is proposing to undertake the following activities for 2018 Grant. These project(s) are eligible under the CDBG National Object by addressing infrastructure needs benefitting over 51% low and moderate income individuals.
Activities: Walnut Creek Township – Sidewalks will be installed along CR 444 in several phases depending on actual construction costs. The allocation dollars will likely be used for the installation of 2,400 feet of 4 foot wide sidewalk along the south side of the road. It is also estimated a minimum of 5 utility poles will need to be relocated. Depending on available budget benches and trees may be installed within the project area. The estimated cost of this installation is $119,125.
The second public hearing will be held on May 31st, 2018 at 10:30AM at Holmes County Commissioner’s meeting room, 2 Court St., Millersburg, Ohio to give citizens the opportunity to review and comment on the County’s proposed CDBG Allocation project.
